Royals and artists

It was so nice to have a little lie in this morning and not have to rush out. After getting ready and eating a lovely breakfast I headed out to Amsterdam once again. I have always loved the royal families and so decided to visit the Amsterdam Royal Palace. It was so wonderful in there. You were able to see the rooms where the Heads of State would stay should the visit, the main hall where dinner would be served and many other meeting rooms. The palace was actually originally built as a city hall during the Dutch Golden Age until in 1806 when Louis Napoleon converted it into a palace for himself.

I took a lovely walk around Amsterdam admiring the canals along the way. It was so nice and cool today which made exploring a lot easier.

After a quick bite to eat, I decided to visit the Van Gogh Museum. I was amazed at how big it was. It takes you through his life and explains the growth and change he had with his art work. It was amazing to see all the famous paintings that I had only seen pictures of – The Pink Peach Tree, Van Gogh’s Chair, Bedroom. In Arles, The Potato Eaters, his many self-portraits and so much more. There is also a separate sunflower exhibit happening at the moment. These are of all his sunflower pieces and his most famous one ‘Sunflowers’.

I also had a walk through the Rjiksmuseum’s gardens. They are so beautiful with a wonderful fountain and many sculptures.

On my way back to the hotel I stopped at the famous Fault in our Stars bench, which was cool.

I had another quick bite before coming back to the hotel to get some rest before my train to Paris tomorrow! Vaarwel!
