Amsterdam Roy & Nikki Spain Travelogues Roy

A whole new language

Today was a travel day. Those always start with at least a touch of dread.

Making our way to the airport nice and early meant no stress, even after we hit a small road(rail)block.

As much as we thought we were prepared for the Mallorcan heatwave leaving shelter of the airport building after the 2 hour odd flight, made it clear we were in for a bit of a shock. Temperatures were still in the 30s after sunset.

After collecting our car, we had our first experience of driving on the rightq-hand side of the road. The initial airport traffic chaos and proliferation of complicated traffic circles kept Nikki’s, the passenger, heart rate nice and healthy. But we successfully found our Agroturisme (farm accommodation)without any issues (besides the navigator sending me down the incorrect exit at the start which we won’t mention). We quickly unpacked, drove to a small local supermarket to buy something for supper and food for the next few days.

Then it was off to the pool, by this time it was about 9pm, and then off to bed.

All in all a successful, if not smooth travel day.

We’re in Spain! Apparently a well known ex-tennis champion lives here…
