Sasnovich then led 5-3 in the 2nd set before Trevisan won 4 games in a row to book her spot in the quarter-finals. 17th seed, Fernandez, was up against 27th seed, Anisimova. Fernandez took the first set relatively comfortably but couldn’t finish the match off in straights as Anisimova took the 2nd set. The young Canadian remained calm and took the 3rd set 6-3 to book her spot in the last 8 where she will face Trevisan. 18th seed, Gauff is yet to drop a set in this years French Open. This trend continued as she dropped just 4 games against 31st seed, Mertens. For those who picked Stephens, well played as she would have scored you a whopping 13 points on day 8. She cruised past 23rd seed, Teichmann to book a quarter-final clash against Gauff. An all American quarter-final. With the top half of the mens draw being filled with many great names, day 8 was always going to be an exciting day of tennis. Alcaraz dropped just 9 games against 21st seed, Khachanov to book a meeting with 3rd seeded, Zverev. The match of the day however was between the 9th seeded Canadian, Auger-Aliassime and 5th seed and 13 time champion, Nadal. The Canadian managing to take the first set 6-3 before Nadal found his rhythm which helped him take the next 2 sets and lead 2 sets to 1. Auger-Aliassime was not finished though and he was the first to break which allowed him to take the 4th set and this match was going the distance. Nadal has never lost a 5 set match on clay and this stat continued as he broke Auger-Aliassime and took the 5th set 6-3. This sets up a quarter-final between Djokovic and Nadal.
