US Open – Day 9
🌟 Women’s Singles: Osaka Shines, Gauff Stumbles
The marquee matchup of the day featured No. 3 seed Coco Gauff against former champion Naomi Osaka. Despite the hype, the match was one-sided. Osaka, showing flashes of her Grand Slam-winning form, dismantled Gauff in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. It marked Osaka’s first Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance since her 2021 Australian Open win.
Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, also cruised through her match against Cristina Bucsa, winning 6-1, 6-4. Sabalenka’s aggressive baseline play and powerful serve proved too much for Bucsa to handle.
