Roland Garros – Day 5
🎾 Men’s Singles
- Jack Draper defeated local favorite Gaël Monfils in four sets, mounting a strong comeback in the fourth after being down 2–5. The atmosphere was electric, with Monfils receiving strong crowd support.
- World No. 1 Jannik Sinner cruised past Richard Gasquet in straight sets, ending the French veteran’s long and celebrated career.
- Novak Djokovic continued his campaign for a 25th Grand Slam title with a dominant win over Corentin Moutet, dropping just one set in a tiebreak.
- Arthur Fils survived a five-set thriller against Jaume Munar, who criticized the crowd afterward for their conduct during the match.
- Jacob Fearnley progressed to the third round after Ugo Humbert was forced to retire mid-match. Fearnley will now face fellow Scot Cameron Norrie, marking a rare all-Scottish matchup at this stage of a Grand Slam.
🎾 Women’s Singles
- Coco Gauff had a smooth win against qualifier Tereza Valentová, moving into the third round without much trouble.
- Jessica Pegula won in straight sets over Ann Li, and Madison Keys beat Katie Boulter convincingly.
- 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva continued her impressive form, getting past Ashlyn Krueger in two sets.
- Paula Badosa rallied from a set down to beat Elena-Gabriela Ruse in a competitive three-set match.
⚠️ Upsets & Exits
- Alex de Minaur, the No. 9 seed, was knocked out by Alexander Bublik, who came back from two sets down to win.
- Barbora KrejÄŤĂková, a former champion, exited in the second round, along with other seeds like Jakub MenšĂk, Ugo Humbert, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Denis Shapovalov. On the women’s side, Magdalena FrÄ™ch also bowed out.
Onto todays leaderboard and our leader has managed to retain her lead on day 5. ‘Down the Line lead the way’ and sit 3 points above second placed team ‘Sinful’. Both the top 2 teams are owned by the same team owner, Auds. There is a joint 3rd place just 2 points back between ‘Left is Best’ and ‘Tennis Pall’. ‘Rally Tally Score’ move down a spot into 5th with ‘Clay Crusher’ moving into the top 6. There is still no team sitting in 30th spot while ‘Love All’ now currently occupies the 75th spot. The wooden spoon is now being held by ‘MCC’ however there is just 1 point between them and 77th spot.
