US Open – Day 4

The US Open day 4 was an interesting day to say the least after the highest scoring day of day 3. Some results which could shock the leaderboard in the long run maybe not right now on day 4.

On the ladies side of the draw we saw the loss of 31st seed, Boulter, who lost to unseeded Bouzas in straight sets.
Dolehide after her amazing come back win against Collins in the first round could not back it up as she fell in straight sets to Errani.
Krueger caused a big upset as she knocked out 21st seed, Andreeva with an impressive performance in front of her home crowd. She took the match 6-1; 6-4.
4th seed, Rybakina continues to struggle with injury as she pulled out of the tournament much to the disappointment of the 15 teams who picked her.
Muchova won the battle of the number 4 ladies picks. She prevailed in straight sets 6-3; 7-6(5) over former champion here, Osaka.

The ladies who made it safely through on day 4 were Wozniacki, Pavlyuchenkova, Swiatek, Pegula, Haddad Maia, Paolini, Putintseva, Shnaider and Kalinskaya.

On the mens side a big result for Thompson who knocked out 7th seed, Hurkacz, in straight sets 7-6(2); 6-1; 7-5.
16th seed, Korda also fell on day 4 as he lost to Machac. This was a huge result as 3 teams cashed in with the 9 points scored by Machac and 8 teams lost Korda.
24th seed, Fils, will be disappointed as he lost to unseeded Canadian Diallo in 4 sets.
Mensik after his huge win over Auger-Aliassime in the opening round beat Schoolkate after being 2 sets to love down. He will now play Borges in the 3rd round.
The biggest result of the day was van de Zandschulp beating 3rd seed, Alcaraz in straight sets. 41 teams have lost Alcaraz and loads of subs were needed after day 4
