Wimbledon Day 8

Another 3 days of fantastic Wimbledon action has passed since my last post and the leaderboard has changed drastically due to some big results in the past 3 days.

The biggest result being the loss of Swiatek in the 3rd round and the loss of Jabeur also in the 3rd round. The round of 16 action has seen 12th seed, Keys, sadly have to retire hurt at 5-5 in the 3rd set against 7th seed, Paolini. Another big result as Keys was picked by many teams. Radovcic is just loving it at Wimbledon this year as she beat Raducanu to book her spot in a maiden grand slam quarter-final. 19th seed, Navarro continued her good form as she beat fellow American and 2nd seed Gauff in straight sets…meaning that both 1 and 2 seeds are out of Wimbledon 2024. Rybakina, Ostapenko, Krejcikova and Svitolina all cruised past their respective opponents to book their spots in the quarter-finals. Alcaraz has not had it his own way so far at this years Wimbledon but he continues to march on after a 4 set win against Humbert in the 4th round. Shelton pushed Sinner all the way but the number 1 in the world managed to still come through in straight sets. Dimitrov’s bad luck continues as he had to retire in the opening set against Medvedev. Paul after a scare in the 2nd round cruised past Bautista-Agut to book his spot in the 4th round. Musetti stopped the French Qualifier, Perricard, from progressing any further with a 4 set win. 9th seed, De Minaur, played well to beat Fils in 4 sets. 13th seed, Fritz, finally came out on the right side in a 5 set encounter. The American beating 4th seed, Zverev, in 5 sets and coming back from a 2 sets to love deficit. Djokovic continues on his way with a straight forward win over Rune.

Onto the fantasy leaderboard and our leader heading into quarter-final action is ‘Miny Moe’ with 171 points. Just 1 point behind in 2nd place is ‘Left is Best’. ‘Super Smash’ is just 1 point behind ‘Left is Best’ in 3rd with 169 points. ‘Highly Strung’ sits just 4 points behind the leader but is in 4th place with 167 points. 5th placed is shared between ‘Miss Hits’ and ‘Aced It!’ on 165 points.
No team has been eliminated as of yet. Our wooden spoon holder is still ‘ Faulty Feet’ but they are just 1 point behind ‘MT’s and C’s’. Calf Cramps also in the fight for the wooden spoon.
