Today’s post is going to be a short one because I want to get it out now and not much later tonight. Svitolina struggled through her second round match as she was taken to 3 sets. Azarenka, Barty, Badosa, Pegula, Kudermteova, Krejcikova, Osaka and Sakkari all cruised through their 2nd round matches. 22nd seed Bencic was knocked out by American Anisimova who has started her 2022 with 7 straight wins. Another seed that was knocked out was the 32nd seed Sorribes Tormo who lost to teenager Kostyuk in straight sets.

On the mens side their were some easy matches and some 5 setters. Carreno-Busta the 19th seed was taken to 5 sets by Griekspoor. The 19th seed coming through 6-4 in the 5th. Korda came through a 5 set match against Moutet which ended 10-6 in the super tiebreak. 14th seed, Shapovalov found himself 2 sets to 1 down before mounting a comeback against South Korean Kwon. 16th seed, Garin came through in another 5 set match, this time against Spaniard Martinez. Monfils, Zverev, Nadal, Khachanov, Karatsev, Alcaraz, Berrettini and Opelka all came through their 2nd round encounters in a comfortable fashion. The big upset of the day was Frenchman, Mannarino, knocking out the 10th seed, Hurkacz in straight sets.

‘Justice’ retakes the overall lead as they are the first team to reach 100 points. ‘Aussie Express’ move up to 2nd 11 points behind the leader. ‘Root Shots’ sit in the last podium position with ‘You’ve Met Your Match’ moving down from 1st to 4th. On the other end of the leaderboard, ‘Meerkat’ sits in the wooden spoon position.
