👟 Women’s Draw Shakes Up

  • Sonay Kartal’s dream run came to an end as she fell to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets. Their match was marred by a technical failure of Wimbledon’s new automated line-calling system, which briefly went offline and led to a controversial replayed point. Organizers apologized and promised to fix the issue.
  • Amanda Anisimova outlasted Linda Noskova in three sets to advance, ending Czech hopes for a third consecutive women’s Wimbledon title.
  • Aryna Sabalenka continued her impressive Grand Slam form, defeating Elise Mertens to move into the quarters.
  • Laura Siegemund also made headlines, reaching her first-ever Wimbledon quarterfinal after beating Solana Sierra.

🎭 Headlines Beyond the Baseline

  • The automated line-calling system (ELC) came under fire after a malfunction during the Kartal–Pavlyuchenkova match. The error led to a brief delay and prompted a formal apology from tournament officials.
