Roland Garros – Men’s Semi-Finals

The men’s final is set after 2 outstanding men’s semi-finals. The firsts semi-final was the one to watch on paper and oh man did they not disappoint. 3rd seed, Alcaraz vs 2nd seed, Sinner was just outstanding to watch from start to finish. Sinner started off the better of the 2 and looked in imperious form as he raced to a 4-0 lead and then a 6-2 opening set. Alcaraz found himself 2-0 down again at the start of the 2nd set but managed to rattle off 5 games to completely turn the match around. The Spaniard eventually taking the set 6-3. Sinner started the 3rd set well again which set him up and he took the 3rd set 6-3 to lead 2 sets to 1. The 4th set was finally a servers set as both players went unbroken until Alcaraz made his move at 5-4 to break Sinner and take us into a 5th and deciding set. For the first time in the match is was Alcaraz who started the better of the 2 and he broke Sinner in Sinner’s opening service game and this was enough to book his spot in yet another grand slam final. He has now made a grand slam final on all 3 surfaces and heading into the final tomorrow, he has a 2-0 record in grand slam finals.

In the other match it was Zverev who came out on top against Ruud. Ruud was looking impressive while Zverev looked a bit flat at the beginning of the match and this allowed Ruud to race away to a 6-2 opening set. Zverev then found some energy and form and completely changed the match around as he took the 2nd set 6-2. From midway through the 3rd set, Ruud started to struggle with what looked like some sort of stomach bug and this allowed Zverev to control the match and book his spot in his 2nd grand slam final. A beautiful moment for Zverev who had that horrific injury just 2 years ago on the very same court.

Heading into the final, it is actually Zverev who leads the head-to-head against Alcaraz 5-4 and the last time they played at Roland Garros, it was Zverev who triumphed so Sunday’s final is looking like it could deliver a great match.

Onto the fantasy leaderboard and it is looking like ‘Pam the Slam’s’ tournament as she continues to lead the way. She now leads by 20 points over ‘Jaden’s Team’ who is just loving 2nd spot at the moment. ‘Sinner’s Injuries’ and ‘Hawks Hacks’ sit in a joint 3rd place heading into finals day and are just 2 points away from 2nd. ‘Eeny Meeny’ is just 1 point behind the pair in 3rd in 5th spot. ‘Tennis Turtles’ remain in 6th and have the best team of males heading into the final. ‘Left is Best’ moves back into their spot, 7th.

Day 13 was a bad day for some as we saw many eliminations. The teams eliminated were: ‘Ann’s Team’, ‘Wors’, ‘Another Try’, ‘Tell Me No Lies’, ‘Ace One Time’, ‘Cuisse de Grenouille’, ‘2nd Choice’ and ‘The Ghost’.
