Roland Garros 2024 Begins

It is May 2024 and the second grand slam is upon us. Clay court tennis here we come! There have been some epic matches already in 2024 and seen a first time grand slam champion in Australia. Can we see another new champion here at Roland Garros 2024…

Last night was epic as the entries just continued to come in all the way up until the last minute before the first game went underway. We eventually ended up just short of 80 entries, 77 entries. I have to say a huge thank you to all who have entered and I will do my best to give you the best experience over the next 2 weeks of jam pack action.

Prizes up for grabs this time round:

  • 3rd Place – R350
  • 4th Place – R250
  • 5th Place – R150
  • 6th Place – R100
  • 7th Place – R50
  • Last Place – The legendary wooden spoon

Overall there were 49 different Male Picks and there were 46 different Ladies Picks.

No onto the action. The 1st round is done and dusted and already some teams are wishing they entered differently. The big names which have fallen at the first hurdle are Haddad Maia who was picked by 13 players, Sakkari who was only picked by 1 team but seeded 6th at this years French Open, Jarry who was picked by 16 teams and Nadal who was picked by 11 teams.

Sitting nicely on top by 1 point is ‘Aces Wild!’ who scored a whopping 63 points in round 1. ‘Clayphoria’ sit in 2nd place on 62 points. There is a joint 3rd place between ‘Pam the Slam’ and ‘Resilient Racquets’ who sit on 61 points. ‘Left is Best’ sit in 5th on 60 points. ‘Miny Moe’ and ‘Eeny Meeny’ sit in a joint 6th place sharing the last 2 prizes. The wooden spoon leader is ‘Wild Cards’ who only managed a measly 33 points in round 1.
