Roland Garros 2021 Jared

French Open – Day 1

The first day of Roland Garros did not disappoint. There were some comfortable wins, some 5 setters and a few upsets. The main headline of the day being Dominic Thiem losing against Pablo Andujar in 5 sets. What makes it even more shocking is the fact that he was leading by 2 sets to love. Angelique Kerber also lost in the first round. Kerber has now been knocked out in the first round of Roland Garros 5 times in the last 6 years. Kvitova and Zverev both came through tight matches. Kvitova saving a match point on her way to winning in 3 sets and Zverev coming back from 2 sets to love down to win in 5. Bogdan became the first winner at Roland Garros 2021 after she defeated ,Italian, Coccairetto in straight sets.

Now onto the fantasy league itself. Day 1 knocked out 3 male picks – Thiem, Dimitrov and Hurkacz. This has meant that some substitutes have had to be used already on Day 1. On the Ladies side, Kuznetsova and Anisimova were knocked out.

Simon Clegg has taken the lead after Day 1. It is still early days as there is still two days to go until round 1 is complete. There are actually 2 teams who have yet to score points due to the fact that no one in their team has played. Now for the long awaited leaderboard – I have split the leaderboard into two because it will make it easier to read on a phone.
