Day 5 was finally a reasonably straight forward day for the respective winners. In the ladies draw upsets continued as 4 seeds fell on day 5. 5th seed, Sakkari, who had looked good so far lost in straight sets to unseeded German Maria. 24th seed, Mertens who won her first 2 rounds in 3 sets beat 15th seed, Kerber, in straight sets. Bouzkova continued her run at this years Wimbledon as she cruised past 28th seed, Riske. Garcia also continued her good grass form as she beat 33rd seed, Zhang, in 2 tiebreak sets. Ostapenko battled past unseeded, Begu. Ostapenko lost the first set but then found her range to drop just 2 games in the next 2 sets combined. Watson pleased the home crowd as she beat Juvan in straight sets. 3rd seed, Jabeur, looked good as she dispatched unseeded, Parry.

In the mens draw the only upset was unseeded, Van Rijthoven, who beat 22nd seed, Basilashvilli in straight sets. The Dutchman is now on a 8 match win streak. In his first ATP tournament he beat Medvedev, Fritz and Auger-Aliassime. Can he continue this run of grass form and knock out the number 1 seed, Djokovic in the 4th round? Tiafoe battled past unseeded, Bublik as he beat the Kazak in 4 sets. Goffin beat Humbert in 4 sets. Paul cruised past Vesely while Djokovic cruised past fellow Serb, Kecmanovic. Sinner beat Isner in straight sets. Alcaraz made light work of in form Otte and Norrie pleased the home crowd as he cruised past American, Johnson.

Onto the fantasy leaderboard and we have a new leader. ‘Boris the Grand Slammer’ leads by 4 points over ‘This Time Baby’ who moved up 11 spots to sit in 2nd. Then there is a 4 way tie for 3rd between ‘Magic Team’, ‘Grassettini’, ‘Team Kickbutt’ and ‘Shot in the Dark 2’. At the bottom end of the leaderboard… ‘What a Racquet’ moved up out of the wooden spoon position while ‘Slip and Slide’ moved down to currently occupy the wooden spoon position.
