Eiffel hard for this city

Today was my first full day in Paris. I headed for the metro first thing this morning to my organized bike tour. The metro was so busy and so full but eventually I made it to the cafe. Before the bike tour started I squeezed in a crossiant. It was delicious.

The bike tour took about just over 3 hours. It went all through Paris. We stopped along the way and were given some history.

We made a stop at the Notre Dame. It is such a pity about the fire. It is full of scaffolding as they begin the reconstruction process. They are hoping it to be done in 8 years time.

We also stopped at the Louvre. I am going to go in there in a Thursday which will be good.

We saw the smallest street in Paris. Paris was originally made up of only small streets. To make everything more easily accessible for the loads of people and vehicles, buildings and homes were knocked down to widen the roads. People were just kicked out with very little notice. A gelato was in order. Honey nougat and chocolate… Yuumy!

After the bike tour I headed back to the Louvre. On the tour I had seen a fair happening with a big wheel. I just had to go up it and see the views. It was absolutely amazing. The wheel went round 3 times and the views from the top where incredible. I am so glad I did it.

I took a lovely walk through the Tuileries Gardens and got a slightly better view of the Place de la Concorde. The grounds are massive and so well kept. I then stopped for a drink and Nutella crepe. I have been looking so forward to trying one and it was so good!

I then walked the streets of Paris towards the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower took my breath away. Standing up close gives you a much better idea of how large it is. You think you have an idea but until you actually see it, you won’t be able to fully comprehend. It was amazing.

Going up the Eiffel tower was also incredible. I went all the way to the top and the views are amazing. It was a little scary and the windy conditions made it a little worse, but I did it. You get a 360° view of Paris. So awesome!

I was very hungry at this point and headed for a little Italian restaurant I had spotted early today. I enjoyed an amazing pizza before heading home for a good night’s rest.

Busy day tomorrow! Au revoir!
