We started our day with a delicious breakfast. Once we had eaten, we climbed aboard the bus and headed for Salzburg<\/a>, Austria. Along the way we stopped at Lake Bled<\/a> which is just before the Austrian border. It is so magical and picturesque. The lake is beautiful with a mountainous backdrop. In the middle of the lake there is a castle perched on a mountain. We only had a hour an half to explore the lake. It would have been lovely to be able to hire out a little row boat and explore the little island but unfortunately we were short on time. We did have time to try their famous cream slice called Kremsnita. It was rather large but tasted amazing! It has flaky pastry on the bottom and top and then a layer of custard and a layer of cream, sprinkled with icing sugar to finish it off. Yum!<\/p>\n

We then made our way to Salzburg, Austria. Driving into Austria was amazing. You are surrounded by green mountains filled with forests and right on the top you even see some snow. It was just beautiful! We stopped at this cute little Austrian restaurant for lunch. Everyone who worked there wore traditional Austrian clothes and there was loads of yummy food to choose from.<\/p>\n

Once we got to our hotel and had had a short power nap we headed for Salzburg’s main city centre. We walked past the Fortress Hohensalzburg<\/a> which sits on top of the hill. It would have been lovely to have gone up there and seen the view from up top but unfortunately we were stressed for time.<\/p>\n

The Salzburg Cathedral was very impressive. You are able to go in and have a walk around. It was stunning inside. The ceilings have detailed paint work and gorgeous sculptures.<\/p>\n

We also had a look at Mozarts house. That was the house he was born in and were his talent started. Once again I would have loved to have looked around but there was not enough time.<\/p>\n

Salzburg is also where the movie ‘The Sound of Music’ was shot and so we had a look at a few of the places where the scenes took place. The one in particular are the Mirabell Gardens. These were beautiful and are placed around Mirabell Palace.<\/p>\n

They also have a dwarf garden which has 18th-century dwarf sculptures. They were amazing and you could feel each one was unique and had its own story.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow we head for Prague<\/a>. Should be good! Nasvidenje!<\/p>\n
