Not many upsets today but that sets up some very intriguing quarter-finals. In the men&#8217;s draw today, Nadal, Medvedev and Rublev all won in straight sets and Tsitsipas received a walkover. In the ladies draw, Pegula continued her amazing run in this years Australian Open after beating Elina Svitolina in three sets. Brady won easily overcoming Vekic in straight sets. Muchova came back from a 4-0 deficit which then became a 5-2 deficit in the first set and she ended up winning the set in a tiebreak. She went on to win in straight sets. Barty was the last person to win on Day 8 after beating Rogers in straight sets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Guys and Dolls&#8221; continue to hold off the challengers and still they lead by 5 points over &#8220;TJ Squared&#8221;. The battle for wooden spoon continues because there are many teams hanging on with only 1 player left. Amazingly &#8220;Team Q&#8221; and &#8220;TJ Squared&#8221; still have 5 players and no teams have lost all their players. Here is the leaderboard after Day 8 and the start of week 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/eishonline.co.za\/jftl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/02\/Capture-14.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-199\" width=\"297\" height=\"642\" \/><figcaption>&#8220;Guys and Dolls&#8221; hold on but can they go all the way?<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With &#8220;Guys and Dolls&#8221; having no players in their team playing tomorrow, could we see a change in the lead for the first time since Day 2?  Only tomorrow will tell. Bring on the quarter finals!!!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some notable matches from Day 8<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pegula <\/strong>defeated fifth seed Svitolina in a tight encounter. 6-4; 3-6; 6-3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Muchova <\/strong>came back in the first set to beat Mertens in straight sets. 7-6(5); 7-5<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Medvedev <\/strong>won comfortably beating McDonald &#8211; 6-4; 6-2; 6-3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nadal <\/strong>won in straight sets but had to come back from 4-2 down in the second set. He defeated Fognini 6-3; 6-4; 6-2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here are the quarter finals which will be played tomorrow:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hsieh vs Osaka  (03:30) &#8211; Can Hseih continue her dream run?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dimitrov vs Karatsev  (06:30)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Halep vs Williams  (10:00) &#8211; For me this is the biggest match of the day.
