The defending champ, Sabalenka, on the other hand booked her spot in the 3rd round in a comfortable straight sets win. 14th seed, Andreeva was another seed who so nearly was knocked out. The young 14th seed won in a 3rd set super tiebreak to book her spot in the 3rd round. The 25th seed, Samsonova was the next seed to fall and it was too Danilovic in straight sets. A huge win for the Serb. 23rd seed, Frech had one of the strangest wins I have ever seen. She lost the first set 6-0 and then proceeded to take the 2nd set 6-0 before taking 3rd set 6-2. Another seed fell…this time it was the 20th seed Muchova who lost to Osaka who managed to get her revenge after losing to Muchova in the US Open last year. 27th seed, Pavlyuchenkova was another seed who went through a battle in the 2nd round. She came through 6-2 in the 3rd against unseeded Potapova. This win meant we amazingly lost our first team and its only day 4. ‘Manchester United’ has been eliminated with just 10 points. Lastly the 18th seed, Vekic, had to come back from a set down against lucky loser Dart. Vekic winning that match 4-6; 6-0; 6-2. Comfortable wins for Pegula, Bencic, Shnaider, Gauff, Kostyuk and Badosa meant they all reach the 3rd round.

Onto the men’s side now and the day started off with an absolute cracker of a match. 26th seed, Machac, beat Opelka in a 5 set match…3-6; 7-6(1); 6-7(5); 7-6(4); 6-4. What.A.Match from both players. Borges produced the first upset on the men’s side as he beat 27th seed, Thompson, in straight sets. Djokovic had to battle again in 4 sets but once again came through and booked his spot in the 3rd round. The next seed to fall was 22nd seed Korda who lost from 2 sets to 1 up against Vukic. A great win for the Australian in front of his home crowd. The biggest upset of the day was from the youngster Mensik who beat 6th seed, Casper Ruud in 4 sets. The next gen seem to be ready for this grand slam…watch out everyone. 15th seed, Draper loves a good scare as he came through yet another 5 set match. This time he really did have to fight for the win as Kokkinakis was serving for the match in the 4th set. However it was Draper who broke back and took the set and then took the match in 5th set. Davidovich Fokina produced the comeback of the day as he came back from 2 sets down against 29th seed, Felix Auger-Aliassime. Yet another seed which fell on day 4. Comfortable wins for Lehecka, Alcaraz, Fils, Humbert, Zverev and Paul meant they all went through to the 3rd round.

Onto the leaderboard and the lead has remained with ‘(B)racquet Challenge’ but still they lead by just 1 point. ‘Pam the Slam’ is the new challenger however after moving up 7 spots and into 2nd. There is a joint 3rd spot between ‘Miss Hits’ and ‘SERVED’ and ‘Heksie’s Pot Luck’. The last prize position is currently going to ‘Wacker Smackers’ who sit in 6th. There is still a group of teams in a joint 40th spot fighting for that spot prize and ‘Calf Cramps’ still holds the 69th spot. We have a wooden spoon winner already as ‘Manchester United’ has been eliminated.

Top Half

Bottom Half

Day 4 and the start of the 2nd round did not disappoint with some crazy comebacks and even more upsets.
