A much simpler day in terms of those who progressed compared to day 7 and most matches also went the way of the seedings which was interesting to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today we start with the ladies and the first match on was between the unseeded Muchova and 5th seed, Paolini who is having just the best year ever. Muchova however spoiled the Italians party who had made the final in the last 2 grand slams as the Czech player won 6-3; 6-3 to book her spot in the quarter-finals. <br>Pegula the 6th seed was up next for the ladies and the home favourite was up against 18th seed, Shnaider who was having a good US Open run. Pegula raced to a 5-2 lead before Shnaider got it back to 5-4 and nearly 5-5 but it was Pegula who took the opener 6-4. This allowed her to relax and she dropped just 2 games in the 2nd set to book her spot in the quarter-finals. <br>22nd seed, Haddad Maia, who has seemingly found some form for the first time this year managed to continue her run here at the US Open as she beat Wozniacki in what was the only ladies match to go 3 sets. Haddad Maia taking the match 6-2; 3-6; 6-3 and continues to earn nobody points as no one picked her this time round. She is the last player left in both the ladies and mens draw to not be picked by anyone.<br>The last ladies match was between 1st seed, Swiatek, and 16th seed, Samsonova. Swiatek managing to lose just 5 games in her 6-4; 6-1 win to book her spot in yet another grand slam quarter-final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Onto the mens now and all the mens matches went the way of the seedings on day 8.<br>The first match was between 25th seed, Draper and unseeded Machac. Draper continues to look very good at this years US Open as he is still yet to lose a set on his way to the quarter-finals. He took the match comfortably 6-3; 6-1; 6-2.<br>5th seed, Medvedev, was up next and cruised past unseeded Borges 6-0; 6-1; 6-3 to book his spot in the quarter-finals. Yet another good US Open for the 5th seed. He has now made it to the 4th round at the US Open every year since 2019. <br>10th seed, De Minaur, was the only winning man to lose a set on his way to the quarter-finals. The Australian beating his fellow countryman Thompson 6-0; 3-6; 6-3; 7-5. He will now face Draper for a spot in the semi-finals.<br>The last match on was a big one between 1st seed, Sinner, and 14th seed, Paul. The 1st 2 sets both went to tiebreaks and on both occasions it was the number 1 in the world who took it. The 3rd set was a comfortable 6-1. This means we have a rematch of the Australian Open final between Medvedev and Sinner for a spot in the semi-final here the US Open. Get some popcorn and enjoy this one on Thursday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Onto the fantasy leaderboard and &#8216;Concrete Jungle where dreams are made of&#8217; continue to lead and have extended their lead once again to 6 points. 2nd place is a tie between &#8216;Team Kickbutt&#8217; and &#8216;Sinners Physio&#8217;.
