We eventually ended up on 78 entries which is another great performance so thank you all for entering and I hope you enjoy the tennis, the fantasy league and the possible late nights spent watching tennis.

Prizes up for grabs this time round:

1st Place – R1200

2nd Place – R500

3rd Place – R350

4th Place – R250

5th Place – R150

6th Place – R100

7th Place – R50

Last Place – The legendary wooden spoon

Here are the most picked players (includes subs) for this year’s US Open:

Sinner – 44 picks (56,41%)

Alcaraz – 41 picks (52,56%)

Djokovic– 28 picks (35,9%)

Fritz – 27 picks (34,62%)

Shelton – 24 picks (30,77%)

Sabalenka – 49 picks (62,82%)

Swiatek – 32 picks (41,03%)

Gauff – 31 picks (39,74%)

Collins – 21 picks (26,92%)

Krejcikova – 18 picks (23,08%)

Overall there were 46 different Male Picks and there were 48 different Ladies Picks.

Now onto the action after day 1. Starting on the mens side, the big names to fall on day 1 were Rune who fell in straight sets to Nakashima. This earnt Nakashima best player of the day scoring a whopping 11 points. Bublik was the other seed to fall on day 1 as he lost to Shang in 5 sets. Shang playing in his first ever main draw match at the US Open and beat the 27th seed, not to shabby I say.

We lost Dominic Thiem yesterday in what was his last ever grand slam match. From the triumphs of becoming US Open champion in 2020, he got a wrist injury after that and since then has never been able to return to the form we loved to watch for so many years. We wish him well for whatever he does in the future.

Humbert, Zverev, Shelton, Ruud, Berrettini, Rublev, Fritz, Musetti, Monfils, Djokovic, Griekspoor and Tiafoe all navigated through their first round matches and booked their spots in round 2.

On the ladies draw we also saw 2 seeds fall. 9th seed, Sakkari lost the first set to Y.F. Wang and then had to retire so is out of this years US Open and 32nd seed, Yastremska, lost to Niemeier in a tight 3 set battle on court 6.

Svitolina, Zheng, Kasatkina, Vekic, Badosa, Gauff, Stearns, Keys, Sabalenka, Azarenka, Navarro, Krejcikova and Kostyuk all booked their spots in round 2.

Onto the fantasy leaderboard and our initial leaders are ‘Stars and Stripes’ who sit on 45 points and are 3 points clear of 2nd spot. There is a joint 2nd between ‘Lord of the Strings’ and ‘Dropshots’ who both sit on 42 points. ‘Flush’ sits in 4th place with ‘Uncle Sam’s Army’ and ‘Hit and Run’ both sitting just 2 points behind in 5th. The last prize position is currently ‘Go!’ who sits in 7th and currently has the best team of ladies after 1 day of action.

Down at the bottom we have ‘Toppie’ who sits on just 12 points after day 1 and currently is winning the race for the wooden spoon.

Top Half

Bottom Half

It is August 2024 already and the last grand slam is upon us.
