Day 8 saw the end of round 4 matches and set up the rest of the quarter-finals for this years Wimbledon Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first match on day 8 was the ladies match between 16 year old, Andreeva, and the 25th seed, Keys who has impressed on the grass so far this season. To the surprise of many it was the 16 year old qualifier who came out the better of the 2 players as she led Keys by a set and a break. Keys however is very experienced in the ladies draw and she used all that experience to break back and take the 2nd set to a tiebreak. She also took the tiebreak 7-4 to take the 2nd set and set up a deciding set. Keys looked a lot more settled and confident in the 3rd set while Andreeva started looking a lot less confident and this allowed Keys to control the match and book her spot in the quarter-finals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rybakina did not have to play much to book her spot in the quarter-finals as 13th seed Haddad Maia who had battled so valiantly to be in the 4th round retired at 4-1 down in the opening set. Sabalenka dropped just 4 games as she beat 21st seed, Alexandrova, 6-4; 6-0 to book her spot in another grand slam quarter-final. Last years finalist Ons Jabeur made light work of one of the favourites, Petra Kvitova, in her 4th round match. Jabeur taking the match 6-0; 6-3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the mens matches, Hurkacz, took the 3rd set to take Djokovic to a 4th set but the number 2 in the world, held his nerve to break Hurkacz and take the match 6-4 in the 4th set. Just like Rybakina in the ladies draw, Medvedev also booked his spot in the quarter-finals after Lehecka who was having an impressive Wimbledon had to retire at the beginning of the 3rd set after Medvedev had taken the first 2 sets. Eubanks who is having his best little period on the tour made a big statement after he beat 5th seed Tsitsipas from 2 sets to 1 down. The tall American will now face the 3rd seed Medvedev in the quarter-finals. 6th seed, Rune played his best match of the tournament as he beat 21st seed, Dimitrov, who was playing some great tennis at this years Wimbledon. Rune won a tight second set tiebreak 8-6 which was hugely important as he had dropped the opening set. The 3rd set went to another tiebreak but this time it was easier for the 6th seed as Rune took it 7-4. He then started to free up a little as he took the 4th and final set 6-3 to book his spot in the quarter-finals. The big match of the day was between number 1 in the world Alcaraz and the former Wimbledon finalist Berrettini who had played an amazing match against Zverev. Berrettini continued his impressive form as he took the opener 6-3 but Alcaraz played brilliantly to take the next 3 sets 6-3 and book a quarter-final meeting against Rune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onto the fantasy league and ‘Sinners Injuries’ continues to impress as they extend their lead 21 points over ‘Calf Cramps’ who have once again claimed back 2nd spot. ‘Fantasy Alive’ drop to 3rd and are now in a joint 3rd with ‘Pumpkin Picks’ who have made up some ground on day 8. There is a huge fight for 5th now as ‘Body Shot’, ‘Fine Whines’ and ‘Livin’ on a Player’ all sit in 5th place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
