I think not many of us were surprised anymore to see more seeds falling as this has been the case everyday so far.

In the ladies, one of the in form players coming into the French Open, 17th seed, Ostapenko lost in 3 sets against unseeded American Stearns in 3 sets. This was a huge win for 21 year old who reached her very first grand slam 3rd round. Another big name to fall was home favourite and 5th seed, Garcia, who could not get passed Blinkova. Blinkova struggled to serve it out as she was broken back after serving for it at 5-4. Many match points later, she managed to serve it out to take the 3rd set 7-5 and book her spot in the 3rd round. The 15th seed, Samsonova, was up 5-3 in the 3rd set against fellow countryman Pavlyuchenkova before Pavlyuchenkova rattled off 4 straight sets to keep her French Open alive. The last female seed who fell was 19th seed, Zheng, who lost in the sets against Putinseva. Svitolina, Mertens, Pegula, Potapova, Kasatkina, Sabalenka, Stephens and Begu all booked their spots in the 3rd round at this years French Open.

On the men’s side we continued to see 5 set matches being played. Kokkinakis was up against 3 time grand slam champion, Stan Wawrinka. On paper it was a tight match to call and it turned out that way as they played yesterday. Wawrinka managed to take the 4th set tiebreak to keep his hopes alive and the match alive as it headed into a 5th set. Unfortunately for the Swiss, he had a horrible start to the set as he was broken twice and was trailing 4-0. He managed to hold and break back but he could not managed to get the second break back and Kokkinakis managed to take the 5th set 6-3. Varilles had one of the most incredible comebacks as he was 2 sets to love down against 19th seed, Bautista-Agut. He then managed to take the 3rd set 6-3 and from then on out, he dominated the match dropping just 2 games in the next 2 sets to book his spot in the 3rd round. Hurkacz followed up his 5 setter in the 1st round with a 5 setter in the second round as he battled hard against Griekspoor, the match ended up lasting 4h 41 minutes. Not sure how much is left in the Hurkacz’s tank but a great effort non the less. The 24th seed, Korda, was knocked out in straight sets as he was up against Ofner.
Tsitsipas, Fognini, Sonego, Schwartzman, Khachanov, Norrie, Davidovich Fokina, Musetti and Djokovic all came through their 2nd round matches in straight sets. Rublev, Alcaraz and Shapovalov all needed 4 sets to book their spots in the 2nd round.

Picks that fell on day 4:
Men: Borges, Carballes Baena, Griekspoor, Korda and Wawrinka.
Ladies: Fernandez, Frech, Garcia, Giorgi, Ostapenko, Samsonova, Vondrousova and Zheng.

Onto the Fantasy Leaderboard:
Pat’s Pick had a great day as she moved up from 3rd yesterday to the overall leader today.
